Raaj Shaandilya’s comedy, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, started with moderate success at the box office but has struggled to keep the momentum going.

Starring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri, it opened with Rs 5.25 crore, surpassing Alia Bhatt’s Jigra, which earned Rs 4.55 crore on its first day. However, both films have encountered difficulties in maintaining audience interest.

By the second day,Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video made Rs 6.75 crore, while Jigra collected Rs 6.50 crore, bringing their total earnings very close to each other.

Despite this slight uptick, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video has not achieved the growth needed for long-term success.

Its day-two increase of less than 30% is disappointing, especially since its initial numbers were only decent. Reviews have been mostly negative, with many critics describing the film as chaotic.

The performances of Rajkummar Rao and Vijay Raaz received some praise, but it hasn’t been enough to boost the film’s standing.

Additionally, the film is facing controversy over the unauthorized use of the character Stree from the Stree franchise, owned by Maddock Films. Director Raaj Shaandilya publicly apologised and stated that efforts were underway to remove the disputed scenes, but this has likely damaged the film's reputation.

On the other hand, Jigra, directed by Karan Johar and featuring Alia Bhatt and newcomer Vedang Raina, has also encountered difficulties. It saw a 30% increase in box office collections on Saturday, bringing its two-day total to Rs 11.05 crore.

However, it too has faced poor reviews, with critics highlighting weaknesses in the story and performances. This marks Alia Bhatt’s weakest box office opener in ten years.

Jigra is in trouble because actress Divya Khosla accused Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar of faking box office numbers and using paid reviews to seem successful.

This controversy and the film’s poor reviews could hurt its chances in the long run.

Both films have challenges that might affect their success. While Jigra is getting some support in certain areas, it’s still not doing well overall.

Similarly, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video is struggling with bad reviews and criticism about a character. It’s unclear if either film will get better in the coming weeks, as both are facing problems.
